### A secret sentence?

Everyone loves the word **shadowban**: creators, “fix” services, group chats. It sounds like a secret sentence.

### What the platforms say

Officially, Instagram and TikTok rarely use the phrase “shadowban.”
But they **really can**:

- show less content in recommendations and search
- limit distribution after violations / spam
- reduce visibility of specific posts

> So the “I’m barely visible” effect is real. The name “shadowban” is folk slang.

### How to check without a meltdown

1. From another account (not a mutual friend), find the post by a unique word / tag.
2. Compare reach on several recent posts — is it a streak or one flop?
3. Check account status / violations in the app (where available).
4. Drop sketchy tags, spam activity, gray auto-posters.
5. Give it 7–14 days of **clean** organic and watch the trend — not one hour.

> **This isn’t a shadowban:** If one clip didn’t hit — that’s not a shadowban. That’s short-form video life.
