Let’s go 😎

## What you will learn

- How to choose a niche “for now”
- How a tight niche differs from blurry “for everyone”
- How to build content pillars for a week
- When to change the topic — and when only the delivery

## Skills you will gain

- Stating your positioning without endless doubt
- Not confusing blog evolution with chaotic jumps

## Lessons

### Lesson 1. How to choose a niche right now

[Open lesson](https://the-app.fyi/academy/niche-and-positioning/choosing-a-niche)

### A niche doesn’t drop from a cloud

The perfect niche doesn’t drop from the sky. You pick it at the overlap of three circles.

### Three circles

1. **You can talk about it for a long time** — experience / interest / learning in progress
2. **People need it** — there’s a pain, a demand, a search
3. **You’re ready to show up** — you’re not ashamed to film about it out loud

> If the overlap is empty — the niche will be misery.

### A quick way to choose for 30 days

1. List 5 topics you could make 5 posts about each
2. Cross out anything you’re ashamed of / hate filming
3. Keep one as the **main**, one as a backup
4. Don’t jump for 30 days. Then review saves and your energy

### The mistake

> **Focus first:** Waiting for a niche that “guarantees a million.” First focus and content skill — then expand.

**Check yourself:** What matters more when choosing a niche at the start?

1. A guarantee the topic goes viral
2. The overlap of “I can / people need it / I’m ready to show up”
3. Whatever’s hyping for everyone right now
4. The broadest topic possible “for reach”

Explanation: Without energy and demand, a niche doesn’t live. Hype without you in it burns out fast.

### Lesson 2. Tight niche vs “for everyone”

[Open lesson](https://the-app.fyi/academy/niche-and-positioning/narrow-vs-broad)

### For everyone — for no one

“Content for everyone” sounds huge

> In practice — often for no one.

### Tight niche

**Pros** (warmer)

clear offer, warmer comments, easier ideas, more trust

**Cons** (feels small)

less “random” reach, feels like “too few people”

### Broad topic with no angle

**Pros** (big market)

looks like a big market

**Cons** (a drop)

you’re a drop in the ocean, hard to remember, weak follow conversion

### The smart path

Start tight: “running for beginners 35+,” not just “fitness.”
Then expand: nutrition for runners, gear, race days — **around the core**.

> It’s not a cage. It’s an anchor.

### The test

If a new visitor doesn’t say “oh, this is about me” in 5 seconds — you’re still too vague or too “about everything.”

> **The 5-second test:** “If someone doesn’t recognise themselves right away — you’re still too vague or too ‘about everything’.”

**Check yourself:** Why is a tight niche often better at the start?

1. Because broad topics are banned
2. It’s easier to hit “this is about me” and build trust
3. Because it means less work forever
4. Because the algorithm only indexes narrow words

Explanation: Narrow focus boosts recognition and conversion. Expand from a strong core, not from mush.

### Lesson 3. Content pillars for the week

[Open lesson](https://the-app.fyi/academy/niche-and-positioning/weekly-pillars)

### Pillars instead of “who am I today?”

Pillars are the same content pillars — just on a weekly calendar. So you don’t decide “who am I today?” every single day.

### Example: 5 posts a week

Niche: hashtags and growth for Instagram/TikTok beginners

**Mon** (Value)

The 5-tag limit — how to choose

**Wed** (Myth)

Why `#fyp` won’t save you

**Fri** (Personality)

A mistake you made yourself

**Sat** (Breakdown)

Weak vs strong tag set

**Sun** (CTA/series)

Audience question → answer

### How to build yours

1. 3 pillars max at the start
2. Under each — 5 idea drafts
3. On the calendar — no more than you’ll actually film
4. One flexible slot: reply to a comment of the week

> **Why a grid:** Pillars keep your positioning visible. Random posts blur it.

**Check yourself:** Why use pillars for the week?

1. To make life harder with tables
2. To keep niche focus and make idea generation easier
3. To force posting 10 times a day
4. To replace hooks

Explanation: A weekly grid cuts chaos and helps the audience get used to: “here it’s consistently about X.”

### Lesson 4. When to change the topic — and when the angle

[Open lesson](https://the-app.fyi/academy/niche-and-positioning/when-to-change-topic)

### The niche — or just fatigue?

Sometimes the niche really isn’t yours. Sometimes you’re just tired of the format and want to burn it all down.

> These are different calls: one is about the core, the other about the format.

### Change the angle (not the niche) if

- Topic’s fine, but the format is boring → new hooks, series, faces
- Reach dipped briefly → test delivery for 2–3 weeks
- You want freshness → a new pillar inside the same audience

### Change the niche / core if

- You physically dread filming about it
- No demand or response for months despite solid attempts
- Values drifted (you no longer believe what you advise)
- You’ve moved into a different life/career for good

### How to change without looking flaky

1. Announce the shift in Stories/a video honestly
2. Don’t pretend you “were always into crypto” if you were baking
3. Rebuild bio and pinned posts
4. Give the audience 2–4 weeks to adjust

> **Evolution, not jumps:** Jumping every week = no positioning. Evolving once a season — normal.

**Check yourself:** What’s smarter if you like the topic but hate the format?

1. Delete the account immediately
2. Change the angle and formats, keep the audience core
3. A new niche every day until something “hits”
4. Only fake engagement until better times

Explanation: Often a new delivery helps more than torching the niche. Save a full switch for real reasons — not a Monday mood.
