Privacy Policy - Music Notebook (Google Play)
Updated September 2026
This privacy policy governs your use of the software application Music Notebook: Songs & Chords ("Application") for Android devices distributed through Google Play.
Privacy by design: The Application does not collect personal information, does not require an account, and does not use advertising or analytics services. Your songs and related content stay on your device unless you choose to share them yourself.
Free app: The Application is free to use. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or premium unlocks.
1. Data Collection
We do not collect:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, contacts)
- Account or login credentials
- Advertising identifiers or tracking IDs
- Analytics, crash, or usage telemetry sent to our servers
- Location data
- Payment or financial information
Local storage only: Song content (lyrics, chords, diagrams, sheets/photos, annotations, audio takes, links), app preferences, and library data are stored exclusively on your device. Uninstalling the Application removes this local data.
Device features used locally: The Application may access the microphone (for the tuner and optional audio recording) and the photo library / camera (for sheet or photo blocks) when you grant permission. These features process data on-device only; we do not upload microphone audio, photos, or song files to our servers.
2. Data Usage & Sharing
Because we do not collect personal or technical telemetry from the Application, we do not use or share user data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or sale.
User-initiated sharing: If you export or share a song (for example as an image or ZIP) through the system share sheet, the content is sent only to the destination you select (such as Messages, Mail, or Files). That transfer is controlled by you and by the third-party app or service you choose—not by our servers.
CCPA/CPRA: We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California privacy law.
3. Data Management
- All Application content remains under your control on the device
- Delete songs or library data inside the app, or uninstall to remove all local Application data
- Revoke microphone or photo permissions at any time in Android Settings
4. Location Information
This Application does not collect precise or approximate location information and does not use location-based services.
5. Third Party Services
The Application does not integrate advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting SDKs.
Distribution and optional OS-level services are provided by Google:
- Google Play Store — platform for Android app distribution. Google may process data according to its own privacy policy independently of this Application.
6. Age Restrictions
This Application is intended for users aged 13 and above. The Application does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. All song content and preferences are stored locally on the device only.
7. Security
Because song data remains on your device, security depends primarily on your device lock screen, biometrics, and operating system protections. We do not operate cloud storage for Application content.
8. Policy Changes
We may update this policy if our practices or legal requirements change. Material changes will be indicated by updating the revision date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
9. Your Rights
Under applicable laws (including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, delete, or object to processing of personal data. Because we do not collect personal data through the Application, these requests typically relate to information you send us directly (for example by email). You can also delete all local Application data by uninstalling the app.
10. Compliance Statements
Google Play Data Safety: Accurately reflects that the Application does not collect user data for advertising or analytics and that content remains on-device.
Legal Compliance: Designed to meet GDPR and CCPA/CPRA expectations through local-only storage and the absence of third-party tracking.
11. EU Addendum
Your rights under GDPR: Where we process personal data (for example if you contact support by email), you may ask us to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of that information. Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Applicable law may require or permit us to decline a request; if so, we will explain why where legally allowed.
Legal bases: For support emails, we rely on legitimate interests (responding to your request) and/or contractual necessity to assist you. The Application itself does not transmit personal data to us for analytics or advertising.
International transfers: If you email us, your message may be processed on systems outside your country of residence. We take reasonable steps to handle support communications securely.
